Like your Starbucks coffee? If you do, you will be able to get the popular brand on board the new Allure of the Seas when it launches next month.
Allure, a sister ship to Oasis of the Seas, has a deal with Starbucks to sell its specialty coffees on the ship, in a Starbucks store. It’s going to be located on the Royal Promenade, the hub of shopping activity on the larger Royal Caribbean ships.
It will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day, so even if you need a late-night buzz of caffeine to keep you going into the night…no problem.
Trained baristas will apparently offer Starbucks’ signature coffees and Frappuccinos, while Seattle’s Best Coffee (owned by Starbucks) will be available around the rest of the ship.
In my radio and TV days, I would often volunteer to make a Starbucks run for the crew. It took me longer to write what everyone wanted than to get the order.
You’ve heard the customers in line…
“I want a non-fat, tall half-caf, half-decaf, grande latte, no foam, extra hot.”
Geez.
You can also get a regular cup of coffee and, if you feel like adding hot water to your instant Starbucks product, you can pick up the company’s VIA brand at the same place and then ask for hot water without moving from your lounge.
With the huge amount of space on the mega ships, this is probably just one more brand name making its way to sea with more to follow — and why not? I expect we will see them on many Royal ships in the future, as the licensing agreement is with Starbucks and Royal Caribbean, not just with Allure.
We should have a contest to see who can order the most confusing latte!
All for now.
